Feb 4th, 2023: Spoke to soon

The roller coaster that is my weight continued today…. up +0.3kg to 113.5 kg! One of the thing i am finding with my current withing’s scales is also how inconsistent the body measurements are, i am finding bone, muscle, fat % figures are just wildly inaccurate day to day!

However one of things i did get back to was the Yoga! I did an hours DDP Yoga and followed that up with laying in the sauna blanket with a peloton meditation

As much as it was a Saturday i got higher than i expected on the step count! which rocked in at just under 18k and almost 9 miles.

I was also able to get some more recovery with a really good lay in

Tomorrow is a rugby day with the kids, and that’s always a pleasure!

Night Y’all

Jan 30th, 2023: Work Week

And so it goes….. the treadmill calls and the work week is underway!

Weigh in time…. with the sudden big drop i expect some increases to take place, and today was an increase day. 113.6kg +0.2 kg from yesterday…. boooooohhhhh

Perhaps some consistency of the working week will help focus things for this week and get the trend the other way!

Ended up crunching through the steps again, lots on, i ended with just over 20k steps and over 10 miles walking!

The consistency of walking must be burning calories and keeping me in check!

I have decided this week i would do DDP Yoga every day. Where i have no yoga sessions in my course i will fill that up with Below the Belt 2.0. DDP Yoga with all the walking is keeping me stretched out…. and i need it!

I am still keeping my calories under control and really proud of that

I feel my eating habits changing, but want to be careful with going out and eating rubbish.

Anyway, thats me for now, best i have a review of the month from tomorrow

Jan 27th, 2023: Friday Night…..

To think i am 42 years old, and on a Friday night, my life is spent in front of computer screens just blows my mind! My friend who i have known for many many years, in fact i met him when he was just a child, now is an owner of a family run insurance business. I have helped them loads over the years, but tonight was their first merger and acquisition. So my evening has been spent doing that, and it was a long long evening.

Firstly the weigh in….. back down to 114.2 kg, thats down – 0.7 from yesterday and more in the right direction.

whats interesting here, is that with the weight loss was my first good sleep result this week

Walking was fine and i walked a fair bit in the evening, but my shins and my knees really hurt towards that later part of the night. I just felt like i couldn’t take another step. I still did 32k steps and just under 16 miles, but boy was it hard going

I didn’t stop till around 5am. I was tired, i was also stressed that somethings were not as straight forward as i planned, and i knew i needed to wake up early to get them fixed and underway.

Talk about bad sleep, thats just about to come!

Jan 22nd, 2023: Catch up

Over this last week i have been majorly overwhelmed with things, its been busy, crazy crazy busy. I am juggling a few things between work, rugby, parents associations, and kids. And so i ended up losing a bit of consistency this week but trying to get things back on track. As i said consistency consistency consistency is needed for this journey.

I want to go back and cover all the days i have missed so thats what these next series of posts are going to do. They are not in depth, they are filling the gaps of the journey as at the end of this year 2023 i want to look back and reflect on where i was to were i ended.

On the 22nd i did NOT step on the scales! My eating stayed consistent

And net calories have stayed under the line.

Anyway, this is a catch up of the last week so lots of little quick posts coming up to get me to the 29th Jan!

Cheers

Jan 15th, 2023: Chill out evening

Let’s get down to the numbers, firstly i wasn’t able to weigh myself first thing, i just didn’t have the time as i was in a rush to get to Sittingbourne for the rugby. My team played really well but the game ended a drawer!

Once i got home i put myself on the scales expecting that weigh to have increased….. but 115.3 kg was in front of me, which is -0.5 kg from yesterday.

I am happy we are still seeing the little decreases taking place and at points some big drops and this week has been good to keep track on things.

But after two weeks of solid DDP Yoga and Peloton and Walking, i have decided to take a rest day and my body is definitely feeling it. My knees have been bothering me for a few days now and I’ve finally decided to take a break and give them some much needed recovery time. My body battery results from today in Garmin were low, and i needed to reflect!

Rest days are an important part of any exercise routine. They allow your body to recover from the stress and strain of regular exercise and prevent injury. For me, my knees have been telling me for a while now that they need a break and who can blame them with the amount of walking i do in a week. I think over 153k steps, and 76 miles is a lot for most people let alone an overweight fella!

But it’s not just physical injuries that rest days can prevent. Taking a break from your usual exercise routine can also help prevent mental burnout and fatigue. It’s important to listen to your body and pay attention to its signals. If you’re feeling tired or sore, it may be a sign that you need to take a rest day.

Rest days don’t mean you have to be completely inactive, however. Gentle stretching, yoga or even a walk can help keep your body active and promote recovery. It’s also a good opportunity to focus on other aspects of your health, such as nutrition and hydration. In my case tonight, i sat and did 10 mins of meditation.

So, today I’m taking it easy, giving my knees and my body the rest they need. And tomorrow, I’ll be back to my regular exercise routine, refreshed and ready to go. It’s important to remember that a little rest goes a long way in helping you achieve your fitness goals in the long run.

Feet up and switching off!
